"Darling don't worry" Polly chimed in. "I had a governess too, and she was wonderful. My father always spent time with me, and Glinda did too. It would have been maddening for me and him if we had only spent time with each other. Besides, I needed a good teacher. Don't get a nanny - get a governess.

"You're right. You're all right." she nodded. "It's just been a rough couple of weeks. The only time I've left the house was for your wedding, Glinda. I just...I need friends again. I lost you all somewhere..." she fell silent, looking into her lap.

Ellie saw the look and backed down. She could find out later. "You'll be ok. You'll have loads of help from all of us...and you might even learn a thing or two that'll help with being Governer."
