Glinda teared. Ellie was so much like her mother. She looked at herself in the mirror a moment. She was old. She wasn't young and vibrant as once she was. She had aged. It showed on her face, in her structure, her hair.
But in the two girls a room over her faith was renewed in the world. They could do what she and Elphie hadn't, if not make the world good...at least make it better. In that breif moment of choosing between herself and Ellie, Claire had chosen the path that Glinda had turned down all too late, friendship. She hoped Claire would continue to make the right choices. Maybe there two were the chosen ones. Maybe they were what would finally make the change.

Ellie huddled in a corner and started crying. Sure - Claire was her friend now - and a great friend. Her BEST friend even. BUt she couldn't help feeling that all that would change if she knew about her parents. If she hadn't been raised by Glinda the Good. If she wasn't indirectly able to offer all this to her. Well.. she would go along with this visit... and the she would have to make some decisions...

Claire stood in the doorway, looking at the beautiful Ellie huddled by herself. "Ellie.." she softly said, not approaching her so as to scare her, but just standing back, allowing her to know that she was there for comfort or support. She cared for Ellie so much, and she wanted to support her in whatever, no matter what happened.

Glinda watched them carefully. It was too soon for Ellie to tell, but she felt her need, her desire to. She supposed if Claire became a threat after knowing there were ways of neutralizing her. She could see the close bond between the two girls. They did remind her so much of Elphie and herself at that age. and that is what scared her. Could they really be different? Sure, Ellie had a distinct advantage of non-green skin, and Claire had not been raised in 'perfection' like Glinda. Could those details make all the difference?

Ellie pulled herself together. She remembered something Kay had said to her... "You're so good Ellie!" Could she really pull off the disguise? Not the she was wicked, but the, well for lack of a better definition the "Glinda disguise." Well, maybe she'd try playing the part tonight. See what it felt like to pretend nothing bad was happening in Oz.

Glinda could see her coming around and smiled. Maybe they would make it after all.

"You are beautiful." Claire smiled. "Even with a few tears..." Claire approached her and lovingly wiped a tear from her cheek.

"Well" said Ellie "You're the best at this popular thing. Lead the way!"

Claire smiled. Ellie was trying, really trying. She knew it must be hard for her, but she was trying. She lended a hand and helped her up, then brushed off her own dress a bit and hand in hand they walked back to Glinda.

"Well girls." Glinda smiled, trying to brush off Ellie's temporary relapse...which was only par for the course with her mother's blood in her veins. She knew the best way to handle Ellie was just to soldier on. "Are we ready? I have a very special night planned..."
