Claire wished she were that strong. Elphaba was a good person to immulate. Perhaps it was age and wisdom that comes from it that made her that way. Perhaps it was the hardships she had faced in her life. Or perhaps it was only that she had been born with that strong spirit. Maybe it would rub off on her...

Ozma thought for a moment. "Well... I hear that he's very protective of it, so getting it off would be no small task. Perhaps the best way would be to look for a weakness... though I have no idea what that might be, if he even has a weakness." She sighed, wishing she could be of more use. Hopefully her powers would be helpful enough...

"If I could get back to the governor's house in Quaddling Country I just feel sure I could find something. I'd found a lot about Ozma in those books, and one or two had mentioned the Nome King in passing. Maybe there's something about a weakness or fear in one of them...." She sighed. "But they're looking for me, and it could take days to paw through them all..."

"I guess I'll just have to risk it. Ian - you come with me - stay hidden unless you're needed. Just watch and follow along. The rest of you STAY HERE! - If anything happens go to my home on the outskirts of Oz" and with that Ian and Elphaba were gone.

"So, I guess we wait..." Claire sighed, sitting down, leaning against one of the walls of the clock. "Or maybe..." an idea struck her. They could watch how this was playing out. Claire cupped her hands in front of her and a yellow bubble appeared and inside it displayed everything transpiring between the Nome King and Elphaba. "Aha! At least we can see what's going on...even if we can't actually change it.."

Taye stared after Elphaba incredulously. "Just stay here? How can she expect us to remain in one spot? Glinda and Ellie are gone!" He turned to Claire. "We have to do something. I can't just sit here." He nevertheless turned to watch the bubble. This was interesting... though he still felt uneasy about just watching everything that was going on.

"I don't know what use we'd be anywhere else. I do feel a little helpless just sitting here, but if something happens to them...we're all that's left that even know the truth. So it's better to go in small groups. That way we can't be knocked out in one fell swoop." Claire's eyes looked from the bubble to Taye again and again. She knew this was eating him up. He was a take action kind of person. It was something she admired about him, but she just wans't sure that any productive action could be taken. At this point, it was just a shot in the dark whether or not they succeeded.

Taye sighed, slumping down on the floor of the clock. He looked over at Ozma. "Two of the most powerful sorceresses in Oz and we're sitting around doing nothing." He shook his head. "Well, I just hope everyone else is safe. Elphaba can hold her own... and Jack Pumpkinhead can protect Dorothy fine, I'm sure."

At this Ozma looked uneasy. "I hope so. He's just so innocent... I don't think he could hurt a soul, nor would he know to. I hope he'll be okay. I directed them to Mount Runcible..."

Claire sighed. This was rediculous. How could they have gotten Glinda and Ellie in the first place? She knew how strong they both were. "It's hard to believe we're even here...let alone that we're here sitting, watching, doing essentially nothing..." She shook her head. "He must be stronger than any of us can realize. How could he have captured Ellie and Glinda so quickly? You both know how strong Ellie is. And though Glinda doesn't have a lot of natural power, she's perfected what she had over time to a strength that is powerful if only by refinement. It doesn't give me much hope of Elphaba or anyone else being much of a match..."

"I should think that the magic belt is the source of most of his power," Taye said. He turned to Ozma for validation, who nodded in agreement. "Don't worry... I'm sure Elphaba will be fine. She can be plenty sneaky, or so I hear." That was what all of the stories said, anyway. Reading all of those books in Dillamond Library had paid off. He hadn't just read about Elphaba though. The things which fascinated him the most were the stories that no one repeated... things about Ozma, or the Clock of the Time Dragon, or the Nome Kingdom. The later was particularly fascinating; no one seemed to know where it was, other than Ozma, but there were still myths. Enormous forges, mazes of tunnels, thousands of Nome soldiers...
He suddenly paled, turning to Claire. "Claire, what about all of the other Nomes in the Nome Kingdom? Dorothy and Jack could be in some real trouble, even without the Nome King..."

"I would imagine there aren't as many on the prowl as they've probably been dispursed looking for Kay..Ozma..because I'm pretty sure by now they know we know." especially since I sent that anonomous note... "So many there aren't as many. Plus, what threat could a little country girl and a large pumpkin headed man really be?" She was trying to sound optomistic.

"The Nomes aren't necessarily a very harmful race," Ozma said carefully, trying to dig up the information from her mind. "They're very mean, but they're mostly bark and no bite. Though they are rock fairies and can do a lot of damage if they wanted to." She hesitated. "I hope snooping around to save some prisoners wouldn't be enough to cause retaliation..."

"Maybe we can keep an eye on them both...and hopefully get them out if anything happens." Claire created a slightly smaller bubble which displayed Dorothy and Jack. "And I hope they get wherever they're going soon, because I don't know how long I can hold two simultaneously..."

"Oh!" Ozma said, remembering her manners. She took the second bubble from Claire; it grew a bit to allow a wider view. "Sorry, I don't know where my manners went..."
