Appearance: Elphaba was born with Emerald Green skin. She is tall, around 5'8'', has long deep brown, almost black hair, deep Hazel eyes, and very distinct cheek bones. Her greenness is the first thing people notice about her, and it often frightens people at first glance, but if she were a "normal" color she would be considered quite beautiful.
Elphaba carries herself with authority and grace. There is often a slightly restrained quality to her, like she is trying to keep herself at bay.

Background History: Elphaba is the daughter of Melena Thropp and the Wizard of Oz. Her father's origins beyond Oz (and a green liquid he gave Melena to drink) is one possible explanation of her green skin, and is the reason she is able read to the Grimmerie. Through her mother, she can lay claim to the highest held title of Munchkinland, the Eminent Thropp. Frexspar, the unionist minister and missionary, is her mother’s husband. Nessarose, the Wicked Witch of the East is her half sister.
Elphaba is a revolutionary, perhaps inspired by her childhood days in Quadling Country, whose ecosystem and people were stricken by the government’s ruthless Emerald mining and road building efforts in the area. When she turned 19 she enrolled at Shiz University in the Natural Science department. Her sister enrolled as well, and she was charged with taking care of her as Nessarose was born with paralyzed legs (a tragedy that Elphaba always blamed herself for.) It was at Shiz that she discovered that her odd "quirks" she had always tried to hide were in fact tremendous sorcery powers. With the promise of someday working with the Wizard, Elphaba transfered to the Sorcery department. While a student, Elphaba roomed with Glinda (formerly Galinda) Upland. At first arch enemies, they eventually became best friends.
Elphaba is a passionate supporter of Animal rights, she speaks out against Madame Morrible; works with Doctor Dillamond, a Goat, to find the biological difference between Animals, animals, and humans; and protected a Lion cub in a life sciences class. When she finally realized that the Wizard was the one behind the Animal attacks she rebelled against him earning her the false title of Wicked Witch of the West. She ended up being forced to go into hiding with her lover Fiyero who she turned into the Scarecrow in an attempt to save his life.
Personality Traits/Flaws: Elphaba is smart, passionate, and above all, kind. She goes after what she wants no matter what, and tends to be very stubborn, often not letting anyone else speak in her enthuseasm to make her point.
