Ok, so I have to name a character for a story...
Instead of telling you what the story's about, I'm going to list several names, and if you would do me the favor of describing the girl that you think of when you read the name - what do you imagine she looks like, acts like, etc. As you can see, I've narrowed down the first names.
Sorry there are a lot!
You rock!
Cora Bell
Bella Cartwright
Cora Helmintoller
Bella Helmintoller
Bella Paige
Cora Greene

Cora Bell
A southern sophistocate in her mid to late 20s. Still single, sightly lonely but would never show it. Always dressed to the nines. Old money. Blonde waves, oftentimes pushed back with a headband or pair of designer sunglasses. She prefers dresses or skirts to any other type of attire and is competely naked without a pair of heels. Medium blue eyes adorned with just the right shade of eyeshadow to make them pop.
Bella Cartwright
(I now can't see Bella without thinking twilight, lol)
Sixteen year old typical teen, only a little dark. She dresses mostly in black and wears too much eyeliner around her hazel eyes and never brushes her dyed jet black hair.. She's not really goth or anything, just feels a bit like an outsider and personifies it through her appearance.
Cora Helmintoller
Raised in an all girls french boarding school, Cora is originally from the northeast united states. Her parents were both wealthy lawyers who wanted their daughter to grow up a well educated, sophistocated young lady.
Dirty blonde straight, thin hair, scissored off at her shoulders. Still dresses in outfits which resemble her school uniform. Dark blue, deep, sad eyes.
Bella Helmintoller
Quiet, shy girl of ecsquisite (sp?) beauty. She is the only chid of divorced parents who threw her in one school after another while her mother was trying to get back on her feet. Now as a college student she doesn't feel quite ready to face the masses at a large university.
Dark brown ringlet curls with matching dark eyes, olive compexion, dresses prettily but plainly.
Bella Paige
A straight-out-of-college collumnist searching for her niche. She wants to write things that really make a difference to people, that somehow change their lives. She lives in a small one room appartment with a tan and white cat. She wears thin glasses which cover green eyes and her chestnut hair is always swept back with a pencil behind her ear. Mostly a button-up and jeans girl.
Cora Greene
Early 30s elementary school teacher. She was once engaged, but it ended poorly; and she has rarely dated at all since. Her auburn hair is always clipped back except the one bang that will never seem to stay out of her face. Most days her attire is a simple button up or cardigan with a pencil skirt of blue or black. Her students value her as a 'nice' and 'honest' person, but she longs for something else behind her hazel eyes.
Cora Isbell
The third of five daughter of two Italian immigrants who settled in New York. Her entire family works in their italian resteraunt, which her parents opened with the little money they fled with. Her beautiful dark eyes hold a fire and a passion for a better life for herself and an escape from her family. Though she dearly loves them, she wants more for herself than a tiny pizzaria.
Cora Belson
A tomboy at heart, Cora had been destined to become a Texas debutante. However, being raised at the middle child and only girl of four children didn't exactly make her prime material. However, her mother's determination and forced enrollment at Finishing schools gave her no choice. Her normally pony-tailed chestnut hair was straightened and highighted. Her green eyes were covered in mascera, and her jeans and boots were traded for dresses and heels. It was a nightmare come true.

I'll tell you as soon as I get a few more responses.
Quick question - how would you feel about Cora Greene if I told you she was a 17 year old girl?

I'd see her as a frumpy girl who wears sweatshirts even when it's warm out. probably glasses. The hair is still the same, and she'd still be just 'nice' and 'honest.' She'd probably think of herself as a bit boring. She's one of those 'safe' people, never takes risks, always does the right thing.

And one more -
Cora Cartwright
- Also, would you feel any differently about Cora Greene if her middle name were Isabelle?

Cora Cartwright sounds very harvard...tight bun of strawberry blonde, blue eyes behind glasses, a smart pencil skirt with a button up and a cardigan tied around her neck. Summer in the hamptons, following Mom, Dad, and big brother's footsteps, might would graduate and never practice law if she found a good, stable husband who would support her in the manner she was used to being kept. Perfect on the outside, a little bored with life on the inside.
And does Isabelle change her? hmm... Maybe it makes her secretly creative, a beautiful painter, but no one has ever seen her work because she's so shy. Something like that. But looks, not really. The last name Greene just doesn't strike me as someone who is attractive, lol.

Perfect actually!
It's for a character - a young girl, late teens, early twenties, in college. Mousy, shy, odd in a way somewhere between Luna Lovegood and Hermione Granger, but very caring, gentle and sweet. She has the potential to be pretty, if she knew how...and she's very creative, and destined to become a great artist - but she'd never believe you if you told her.
