(( To clarify -- Nessarose is still inside Gayelette, not separate form her. She's just turning up the control, while still making Gayelette think that she's being responsible for her own actions. Sorry for any confusion! =P
Also, Gayelette should be back in (mostly) full control now. Nessa just needed to force her hand at a critical moment, one that has now passed. ;P ))

'Why thank you!" she replied, following close behind him, taking a glance behind to make sure the bubble was still following her. She still wasn't sure how she did it, but she'd pulled it off. Now, she only wanted to get out of the city, fast!

"So you're... Gayelette, right?" he asked, becoming a bit out-of-breath as they stormed down a flight of dormitory stairs. He glanced back over his shoulder at her. She was even prettier up close. "I'm Skylar. Er..." His eyes fell on Kay in the bubble. He said he wouldn't judge her for her actions, but he was still a bit curious. "Why exactly are you kidnapping Kay Upland?"

Kay was still pounding against the ruby bubble, her screams making no noise. She desperetly clung to her bubble necklace, but her mother didn't appear....

"Because she's in danger here. Her mother isn't who she says she is." Gayelette retorted. "I'm taking her somewhere safe, to someone who can help her. He helped me escape from jail...he's an amazing Wizard....well, a Warlock actually."

Kay could hear everything that was being said...
"What do you mean my mother isn't who she says she is?" she cried not knowing if anyone could hear her.

They rounded a corner and came out of the dormitory into the grassy courtyard, illuminated by bright moonlight. Skylar walked close to the side of the vine-draped building, clinging to the shadows so that they wouldn't be seen. He nodded darkly at Gayelette's comment.
"I know what you mean. She can be rather... judgmental, can't she? Ellie too." He hesitated, then flushed for a moment. "Ellie told me... that you were wicked. But then she called my actions wicked too... people seem to like to throw that word around a lot, don't they?" They had no right to judge... no matter how perfect and "good" someone pretended to be, they were all just people.

Kay could hear every word that was said. Didn't they understand what they were doing? What they were doing WAS wicked. She pounded on the bubble as hard as she could, and started to cry. "TELL ME WHAT'S GOING ON!"

"They do. They called my mother 'good' and me 'wicked' for using the exact same spell. Of course, like all spells, it was fickle and had a different outcome. And all I wanted was to be as 'good' as my mother..instead they called me 'wicked' and threw me in a jail cell, wrongly accusing me of killing my own father, who is still alive!"

Skylar stared at her, aghast. "That's just... sick." He stared around the courtyard pensively, trying to make sure that no one was around, but also to avoid meeting Gayelette's gaze. He sighed. "Oz really is screwed up these days, isn't it?" Judgement was passed no matter where you went, from Oz to Ix to Ev... but Oz seemed to have its own personal brand of labeling.
He glanced back at Kay. "We're taking you somewhere you'll be safe. Calm down or you'll alert someone." He didn't really know where they were taking her... Gayelette wasn't very clear on where they were going, just that they were going to be helped by some warlock. Whatever the reasons for Kay's kidnapping, he felt that he could trust Gayelette in this. He couldn't help but feeling an odd connection with her, if only because they were both the victims of false judgment.
"Won't your brother be mad that you've stolen away his girlfriend?" he asked after awhile. He thought for a moment, then added, "Tristan was my roommate, so... I had heard of you before."

"Yeah...it's unfair...but...thanks for helping me. And...yeah, he'll probably be angry. If I could have taken him with me too, I would have. But I can't. i can only take her...and he's not the one in danger.." She hoped the explanation would suffice...that he wouldn't become extremely suspicious of her. He seemed to be on her side...one of the few.

They ducked into the shadows as a student passed by, laughing loudly with a girl on each arm. Just back from the Ozdust Ballroom, most likely -- regardless, the students passed by without noticing them. Skylar's brow furrowed as he processed what Gayelette had said.
"Danger? Of what?" He glanced back at Kay, still pounding helplessly on the bubble. Thoughts clicked together in his mind. "You said something about her mother not being who people thought she was..."

"Glinda...along with Ozma was part of the reason I was thrown in jail in the first place. It's because she's been poisoned completely by Elphaba...who everyone seems to accept as 'good' now, but she's not. Glinda is so brainwashed by her that she doesn't realize everything that's going on. Glinda gave Ian his powers, and then tried to steal them back! I heard him say so! He is the most giving, gracious host. He's taken such good care of me. I know he'll take good care of Kay too. She's in danger here of being completely poisoned by her mother...forced into magic to have another ally on her mother's side.
"Glinda has a plan to begin feeding magic into Kay...the same way she created her so selfishly! You do know that the only reason Kay's alive is because Glinda couldn't have children so she magically conjured here...right?" She looked sternly at Skylar. She had no idea what he knew and didn't know, but the more she could feed him, the more he'd trust her. She was almost believing some of it herself.

Kay started to cry softly in the bubble. If Gayelette was so good, how could she be so heartless towards her feelings?

Skylar stared back at Gayelette, somewhat shaken by the intensity of her gaze. He shook his head numbly as he processed everything she was telling him.
"No, I... I didn't know that." How could someone simply create a child through magic? Skylar looked down at the ground bitterly. Where did Glinda get off judging other people for being selfish with their use of magic when she was no better herself? So much of what Gayelette was saying seemed to make sense, although something in Gayelette's demeanor sent slight chills through him. He shook his head, clearing his thoughts -- he was just imagining things, surely. Another thought crossed his mind, one that hadn't really clicked until just now.
"Wait a second... Ian? As in Ian Tibbit, the Warlock of Oz?" Skylar asked, aghast. Ian was the number one public enemy in Oz, everyone knew that. But then again... if Elphaba was really corrupting everyone like Gayelette said, then wouldn't that make Ian the innocent one? Cast out and deemed wicked by the "wonderful" governing bodies... this sounded almost like the sympathy tale spun by Elphaba, though perhaps Ian's story was a bit more accurate, especially if Gayelette thought so. He grew more and more skeptic as he realized how ludicrous it was for someone like the Wicked Witch to magically reform simply because her best friend Glinda said she had. Had Oz truly been deceived all this time?
More than anything, if Ian was their mysterious new patron... then he would surely help Skylar find the book. It would help them both, after all. His eyes flashed greedily as he considered the implications. Traveling to other worlds seemed within his grasp yet again. He barely even noticed that his facial expressions had taken on a darker, almost sinister tone. Within a moment, however, it was gone. He looked back at Kay and sighed.
"Stop crying. Didn't you listen to Gayelette? We're trying to help you." Honestly... did she want to be brainwashed? That was what would happen if she stayed with Glinda. His new friend had said so... surely it was true. They weren't the wicked ones... and he had to cling to this fact to convince himself that kidnapping could be explained away for the greater good.
