Kay was the first one of her friends to arrive at the Ozdust. She looked stunning in a beautiful, whimsical pink ball gown. She was so happy to be there - with Tristin on her arm. They were the most popular people there, and it was wonderful!

Polly flounced in soon after. She looked light and lythe as a fairy. She waltzed right up to Kay and the two Princesses entered the room arm in arm.

Claire stepped out in a beautiful printed gown of black and white. It felt so strange to be back here...alone. She glanced at Tristan and Kay, and tried to hold down the jealousy and resentment. They reminded her so much of she and Taye. Her own son...so much like his father...and Glinda Upland's daughter. Who would have thought that life would turn out so strangely? Her idol's child and her own...together. And she was alone. Sure, she looked beautiful, but it wouldn't substitue for not having her husband to hold her close. She shook her head and moved to Polly, faking a smile.

Tristan took Kay in his arms and swung her around the dance floor, kissing her cheek. "You look positively radiant, darling." He looked quite dapper in his suit and pink tie to match her: Then, he noticed his mother come in. He wasn't sure whether to be happy or not. She had promised him she wouldn't fuss anymore, but she was still his mother. Something about her looked off tonight though. There was a sadness in her gait. And where was his father? Did she really come alone?

Gayelette made a grand entrance in her pink dress with a similar print to her mothers. Of course she'd have to pick something that looked like her mom! She sighed. It wouldn't be the end of the world. At least she looked radiant! She sashayed her way over to her mom and Polly, a grin on her face. Sure, she was a little conceited, but who wouldn't be? She was Gayelette Keats, and she was going to own this party if it meant offing every other popular person in this room.

And when Glind arrived, she looked regal as ever. She walked arm in arm with her husband, smiling. "I think our little girl did a good job, hmm?" she asked beaming, leaning her head against his shoulder.

"Hello Polly. Hi Mummy." she hugged them both. "Where's Daddy? I assumed he'd want to come with you..."

"He's...." she tried to come up with some legitimate excuse, "..working. Ozma has a big presentation with..." think, Claire, think, "...the...committe about the possibility of Muchkinland being run as a democracy again. He had to help her prepare. He couldn't come." She smiled, trying to cover up how absolutely furious she was at Taye. She'd told him Kay was hosting this, and he hadn't answered her, like always. This used to be his thing, but he didn't want to go anywhere with her anymore.

Polly waltzed to the center of the floor. "Hello Gayelette! You look lovely!" she and Kay smiled and giggled - two friends who could communicate with out words. "Would you like to join us on the dance floor?"

Gayelette nodded, running away from her mom with Polly and Kay. "Both of you look gorgeous!"

Claire leaned against the wall watching her kids be young and happy. She envied her own children, and it made her feel like a bad mother. She wished Ellie was there. Or better yet, she wished she hadn't even come.

Claire quickly got her wish. Ellie suddenly emerged at the top of the stairs. She was dressed much more simply than the other party goers, in a simple emerald green gown that had been a present from Ozma, but she looked stunning. As soon as she entered the party pratically stopped. All eyes turned and looked at her their faces filled with awe. Ellie felt like a deer caught in headlights. She whispered to Claire "why are they looking at me? Do I have a rip in my dress?"

"No, just most of them aren't used to you looking like that." she laughed, embracing her. "Boy am I glad you're here! I was getting very lonely."

Kay rushed over to Ellie. "Ellie! I'm so glad you came!" she saw the uncomfortable look in Ellie's eyes, "Oh, I'm sorry about the staring. You see, ever since you defeated the Nome King, and survive his...torture...no one's ever done that before. Everyone's a little in awe of you."
"Oh! Hello Claire! WOuld you like to come join our...group?" She had almost said "the popular group" but that wouldn't have been appropriate.
