Well, it hadn't taken long. She wasn't supposed to, but Ellie had flown home. Yes, flown. Ellie could read the Grimmerie, she had actually been teaching Glinda to read it. But the one spell she had made for herself was the levitation spell. She had used it on her necklace - the one she never took off. It was a small key that had the OZ emblum of the large O with the Z in the middle, and it opened a secret door in the Emerald City that led directly to Kiamo Ko, and the Governor's mansion in Munchkinland. The doors were enchanted so not only did you have to have the key to open it, but you had to have "magical" access - only herself, Elphaba, Fiyero, and Glinda could use it. The spell prevented someone else from stealing the key and using it themselves.
To be honest, Ellie didn't like Shiz as much as she thought she would. There were already problems with Mombie, and the students wern't any more supportive of her powers then the other orphans had been. She needed to be with Glinda.

Glinda saw the girl she considered a daughter of her own running up the stairs to her old room and shook her head. "Ellie! What are you doing here?" Her tone was caring, yet condemning. She couldn't help but be a little unhappy with Ellie's sudden homecoming. She had JUST left her! And besides, she was packing to go see Elphaba. "Ellie...why are you not at school?" She placed her hand on her him in that way that only Glinda could and shook her head 'tsk'ing.

"I can't do it Glinda! I just can't." Ellie was more of a freak at school than she ever had been. "I want to see my mother - NOW." There were questions, things that she had found out just in her first few days that she had never known before - things she needed answers to.
"I could never have a normal life, you know I couldn't. My powers, they're too much. I'm a freak already."

"They're not too much, dear. That's why you're going to Shiz. I'll come and get you and take you to see your mother in a few weeks, once you've settled in." She brushed a finger under Ellie's chin. "You've barely even had a start there. Just try. I promise I'll take you as soon as a few weeks have gone past. But you have to try, dear. It's what your mother wants you to do."
It hurt Glinda to see Ellie hurt. She was just as attatched to her at the heart strings as if she had been her own flesh and blood. She was such a beautiful mix of Nessa and Elphie, looking at her, with a little of Fiyero's dashing looking thrown in. Her personality so reminded her of Elphie, but that beautiful texture of hair made her think of the dearly departed Nessarose. She had her mother's strong chin, and her father's kind eyes. And her lips....they were fiyero's. She used to study his lips, those beautiful, full pale petal lips that she longed to have all to herself. Of course, everything had turned out for the better, but Ellie reminded her of what she might have had every so often.

"I broke every lightbulb in the school. Did you know that? I got upset, and crash! My roomate thinks I look an awful lot like Nessarose, and she's starting to ask questions. And I'm already on the warpath with Mombie."
Ellie got choked up for a moment. There was more... so much more...
"And... everyone seems to know everything about you, and Nessa, and my mother and father. Things I don't even know. No one's ever told me the whole story and... I just don't know what to do."

She took her into her arms and held her tight. "People will talk. Most of them don't have any idea what the truth is. I was far more wicked than your mother ever thought about being, but she got the title because of people...." She stroked her vibrant hair. "People will talk, but that's lfe. That's normality. I promise, I will be there soon to check up on you. And soon, we will go to see your mother. I'm sure she'll tell you anything you think u need to hear."

"But you know, Glinda! You know how dangerous it is. Of course people talk. And if they talk too much I'll have a pretty good bid at being the next Wicked Witch of the West. This was a bad idea. I never should have gone."

"It was a great idea. You have to learn to stand on your own!" She sighed. "Will it make you feel better if I go back with you? I can. I will. I'll investigate everything. No one will dare say an unkind word with Glinda the good standing beside you." She giggled.

Ellie laughed. Yeah, it might make her feel better. "Maybe you could spread a rumor about my parents - like um.. that they're NOT related to Nessarose and Elphaba? Maybe I could be the long lost daughter of a rich Gillikeneese family." Ellie laughed. Part of her had never quite understood why they had never passed her off as Glinda's daughter. Except that they were rather different...
"But, I think we'll need to come up with some explination of why my powers are so strong. The only person who's had powers like that has been... well, my mother. How can I keep people from thinking I'm wicked?"

"You make them believe you're good..." She shook her head. "You worry so much, just like your mother. I told you we should have dressed you up in a party dress and curls. Then nobody would have looked at you twice!"

"I look silly dressed that way!" Ellie said. "Besides, I can act as "good" as I want, but if I keep breaking things uncontrollably. I even tried lying like you told me to - I said that similar things used to happen to you. Everyone knows it isn't true. They all worship you and know everything about you. You even have a tower named after you for Oz sakes!"

She laughed and shook her head full of curls. "It used to be called Ozma tower, but with the erasing of everything past they renamed it after me. I'm the only thing that's come out of that school that they liked...mostly because they dictated my life for such a long while." She sighed. "I regret that fact. I lost a lot of valuable years to actually do good..."

"Well, you're good now, and that's all that matters." Ellie got quiet for a moment. She knew that in a very short time she would have to face the same choice both Glinda and her mother had made. Would she become a rebel like her mother? Or become a "good" public official like Glinda - giving her power, but meaning that she would, to some extent have to live a lie.

"Yes, doll. That's true. I can't help blaming myself for this a little. If I had just socialized you a little more, maybe you would be able to deal with others..." She shook her head. "You're so bright, so talented, and I just want you to be as happy as possible, but you have a destiny. You know it. You can be the link that sets the story straight. I couldn't, but you can."

"How?" Ellie really didn't know. Her secret dream had always been to someday be called the GOOD Witch of the West.
"But if I scare people... I just don't know how to be myself and still have people like me. HOw can I open up to people when I can't even tell them who my parents are. When I don't even really know my parents myself..."
"People are afraid of things they don't understand... and my powers... they'll never think I'm good..."
