Claire had been alone, midday when the pain had set in. Thankfully Elphaba's Animal midwife had been living with them for a few weeks now, so she'd been on hand. With no time to really call for anyone it wasn't until after she'd been holding two healthy babies: one boy, one girl, in her arms that she sent out word to Taye, to Ellie, Glinda, Elphaba...even to Ian. Her heart broke a little that Polly, who had been so happy for her, so encouraging, was the one missing this. She thought, under the circumstances, that she'd like to talk to Ellie about the possibility of naming Polly as Tristan's godmother. There were two...the girl was Ellie's namesake, her goddaughter, but maybe Polly could hear in the state she was in, and to go up to her and say 'this is your godson, and when you wake up you can look and see how beautiful he is.' It might help...somehow... Welcome to the World...

Ellie rushed in as soon as she heard - she was frazzled - unusual for her. "You didn't...you should have called! Oh! They're beautiful!"

"There wasn't really...time..." she tried to explain, motioning for her to come closer. "I need to talk to you about something, too, but first come see your goddaughter and namesake." she reached up, handing Gayelette to Ellie.

Ellie walked over and took Gayelette in her arms. "She's perfect!"

"She is pretty..." Claire smiled at Ellie with that little girl in her arms. They looked so sweet together. "I wanted to ask you...because I wondered...if you would mind if Polly were Tristan's godmother. I don't know that she'll ever wake up, but...I just thought if I could take him to her, if she were able to hear me...it might make her smile on the inside." Claire looked down at the little boy in her arms, sleeping so peacefully. "When Polly and I had a chance to talk for a few minutes...right before everything happened...and she just made over the fact that I was going to have a baby...she was so excited. And worried about you...sad she'd never gotten to know you better...now she may never..." Cliare could feel the tears rising in her throat.

"I would love nothing more" Ellie said - "and maybe it'll be an opportunity for us to get to know each other better. And I promise to fill in for her until she's better."

Claire nodded, sniffing a little. "Thank you. You know, you really are too good. Glinda taught you well..." She laughed a little, scooting over in the bed a little so Ellie would have a place to sit.

Ellie took Tristin and was now holding two babies at once. "They're so beautiful Claire! And right now, so well behaved!"

It was just about then that Gayelette started to scream. "She's been the handful thus far, just like before she was even born when she was kicking me." Claire took her back, gently bouncing her in her arms, "haven't you my little prissy?" the child's screams slowly dulled to a sort of raspy, teary breathing, then she lulled back to sleep. "There we go."
Claire looked back up at Ellie, "They wake up and suddenly I think they believe they're under attack. The mouths fly open, and the screaming ensues."

Glinda appeared in the room, looking a little more relaxed than usual. She wore a pink velour workout suit, a white t-shirt underneath with little white sneakers. "Sorry, I'm a little dissheveled. I was still on vacation at the Rainbow Palace, but I got the news and had to come immediately! Didn't even change..." Glinda neared Ellie and Claire and the two babies. "Oh, Claire, they're just beautiful. Not a flaw on them..."

"Hi, Glinda." Claire smiled. "You came in at a good time, Gayelette just decided to quiet back down." As Glinda drew near, the angled Gayelette toward her in her arms, "there's your Auntie Glinda."
