Allegience Adina tried to keep herself neutral, but she had always admired the efforts of a former resident of the town that is one train stop from hers, Glinda Upland. She typically follows whoever Glinda chooses to follow at the moment, but if she completely disagrees with something that that person believes, Adina will go back to a neutral state.
Appearance: Adina is approximately five feet and nine inches tall, a rather tall height for someone from Gilikin. This has caused some speculation as to her parentage. She is quite pale but does not have any freckles. Adina's straight brown hair flows to just past her shoulders which she typicaly parts slightly to her left. Her eyes are brown as chocolate.
Adina used to always wear dresses and skirts that were hemmed just above the knees in shades of blue and red with a matching ribbon pulling her hair half back. Since she was accepted into Gale House, the blue has almost completely vanished from her wardrobe. Now, it is rare to see her in anything other than red.

Background History: Adina is the middle child in her family. Her older brother, Chalan, was the perfect child...their mother's favorite. He went off to join the Army of Oz when Adina was sixteen. Her younger sister, Soph, was Adina's best friend growing up. Unfortunately, Soph died of the fever when she was seven years old
Growing up, Adina was always a matter of speculation among the women of Wittica because of her height. She was much taller than her mother and only a few inches shorted then Chalan, a great difference from the normal height of Gililkenese women. The ladies of the town always spread rumors that Adina's father was actually a Winki, not the deceased soldier from Frottica that he was supposed to be. These rumors angered Adina as a child and fueled her need to do well in life. She believed that if she was a major success, the women would stop talking poorly about her and she might have some hope of outshining her brother.
Now, Adina is a double major in Gale Hall at Shiz. Her main subject is performing arts, which is her true passion, but she is also studying creative writing. Adina is a senior and will graduate in May.
Personality Traits/Flaws: Adina is a very polite girl, due to her upbringing in the Uplands. Still, she is even more kind than most from her town. She will do anything to help anyone, regardless of their species, who is suffering. It's almost like she feels their pain and sorrow as her own.
Still, no one's perfect, and neither is Adina. She has always been highly jealous of her older brother. Everyone in Wittica, with the exception of Soph, treated him like an angel or a hero, even when he did something wrong. Adina always wanted to be considered equal to Chalan but never seemed to measure up in anyone's eyes, particularly those of her mother.
Adina also has a nasty habit of jumping to conclusions about how people think about her. She had so many bad experiences with rumors in Wittica that it is hard for her to think that strangers aren't thinking poorly of her. Adina is outgoing though, so she makes up for her suspicions by going out of her way to make friends at Shiz. She is also quite enthusiastic. So much that she almost becomes obsessed with the things she likes.
Adina is also a dreamer. She tends to fall into her fantasies and loose touch with reality at times. She developed this defense mechanism after her sister died. She needed a way to escape the pain, and dreaming was the perfect solution.This comes to be a problem for her later in life as her daydreams get in the way of her reality.
Intrests/Hobbies Adina is mainly interested in the performing arts. She loves to sing and act and hopes to go on to perform in the Emerald City after her graduation. Adina also enjoys fiction writing, which is her minor at Shiz.

Worst Memory When Soph died--Adina hated seeing little Soph suffer. She had been perfectly fine a week before she died, but the fever took her quickly. Soph had become ill only three months after Chalan left for the army, so once Soph passed away Adina was left to care for her depressed mother, alone.
Goals: Adina hopes to graduate Shiz with flying colors as a double major at the end of the year. She then plans to move to the Emerald City to pursue a career in the performing arts. She will also continue to write because inspiration can strike at any time. Adina hopes to somehow do something to help all the people of Oz...leaving her mark on the country for good.
Writing SampleAs soon as her last class was over, Adina rushed to her room. Who knew script analysis could be so tiring? As soon as she was inside, she dropped her books on the desk and flung herself on the bed. She closed her eyes and allowed her mind to drift. Adina saw herself backstage at a theatre somewhere in the Emerald City. She ran out onto the stage abd bowed as the audience cheered. When she lifted her head, she noticed two faces in the crowd. The first was that of her role model, Glinda the Good, smiling at her. The second face was that of her mother. She was beaming and teary eyed with joy and pride. Adina relived that imaginary moment several times in her head, going back and altering things here and there. She had gotten it nearly perfect when the noise of the door opening pulled her from her reverie. Her head snapped towards the sound as her roomate entered their dorm
