Elphaba Thropp: Female; 30; Munchkinlander; Sorceress
More commonly known as the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba was supposedly melted by Dorothy Gale five years ago. She is still alive, however and working with her husband Fiyero, (now more commonly known as the Scarecrow) protect Oz from the growing threat. Elphaba is fiery and very intelligent, and is dediated to "Making Good" despite the cost. She can be very stubborn and has been judged her whole life because of her green skin. Even though her actions have always been interpreted as "Wicked", she is in fact one of the kindest citizens of Oz, and has a very soft, vulnerable side. Her magical power is unparalleled even by the three highest ranking Ozian sorceresses: Glinda, Mme. Morrible, and Mombie.
Glinda Upland: Female; 30; Uplander; Good Witch of the North
Pretty and popular Glinda the Good is the most powerful sorceress currently residing in Oz. She's never met a shade of pink she didn't like. Best friends with Elphaba after a rocky start as roomates at Shiz, and former girlfriend of Fiyero she has transformed from a ditzy socialite to a deeply kind and brave leader of Oz. She is trying to walk the fine line between keeping up appearances, and trying to aid Oz. As the only "rebel" to hold a public office, she must not reveal her true motives or risk everything she and Elphaba have worked for.
Scarecrow (Fiyero Tigalar): Male; 40; Winki; Officer of Oz
Born into extreme privilidge this formerly handsome Winki Prince was transformed into the Scarecrow by Elphaba in an attempt to save his life. No one except for Elphaba and Glinda know that the Scarecrow and Fiyero are the same person. After journeying with Dorothy on her quest he became the temporary ruler of Oz when the Wizard left in his baloon. However he has since passed the position along in an attempt to protect him and Elphaba.
Dorothy Gale: Female; 12; Kansas Farm Girl; Ozian Legend
Dorothy became infamous in Oz when she was blown in a cyclone, and accidentally killed the Witch of the East. Her journey to the Emerald City, and melting of the Wicked Witch of the West earned her legendary status. She returned home to Kansas by use of the Ruby Slippers, but is still deeply connected to Oz, and it has been speculated that she will return one day. Gale Tower is named for her.
Princess Ozma/Kay Tip: Female; 13; Unknown; Originally Mombie's servant
Kay is a tomboy, with a heart of gold. Her origins are shrouded in mystery, and all that is known is that at an early age she was taken in by Mombie. She is ordered around day and night both by the staff, and by the students. But Kay is always fun to be around, and although she does have a somber and intense side she makes friends very easily and is always up for an adventure. One can't help feeling that she was destined for something more. Eventually it was revealed that Kay is in fact Princess Ozma, the rightful ruler of Oz who was kidnapped by Mombie.
Nome King: Male; Unknown; Nome; Ruler of the secret underground kingdom of Oz. Formidable and hard as stone the Nome King fancies himself a big Grandfather to Oz, but is not above using merciless methods to give Oz the "love and care" they deserve.
Averick Gaimon: Male; 28; Winki; Head of the Ozian Guard, and interim Steward of Oz.
A man who's in way over his head. Very kind, but stoic and always terrified of making the wrong move. Always has to try to keep everything under control and "be encouraging" for the citizens of Oz. Former best friend of Fiyero.
Doctor Dillamond: Male; Goat; in hiding with Elphaba - Formerly the most prominant member of the Shiz faculty, Dr. Dillamond eventually became the sole Animal on staff, and soon after was removed by the Wizards private security after the Wizards Animal Act was put into place. No one knows what happened to him in the Emerald City, but we do know that when he was next seen he had lost the ability to speak. Elphaba was a special student of his at Shiz, and since her escape she has spent much time teaching Dillamond to regain his voice. Dillamond Tower is named for him.
Chistery: Male; Flying Monkey; Emerald City - before that, Dark Forest; Elphaba's servant. Once the servant of the Wizard, Chistery is now under the protection of Elphaba who (somewhat accidentally gave him his wings) taught him to speak. He's strong, kind, oh, and did we mention he can fly?
At Shiz:
Mombie: Female; Unknown; Unknown; Headmistress of Shiz University
Mombie is a formidable woman. Cut from the same cloth as her predecessor Madame Morrible she is both extremely talented, and extremely intense. She rules Shiz with an iron hand, and has an uncanny ability to know exactly what's going on, not only at Shiz, but through out Oz. She does however have her soft moments. Above all, she wants power, and will stop at nothing to get it, even if it means joining with the infamous Nome King, though she will never let her true intentions be known. Also teaches the Sorcery Seminar to all Sorcery majors. Has the ability to turn people into stone. Currently imprisoned for aiding the Nome King.
Jack Pumpkinhead: Jack's tall figure is made from tree limbs and jointed with wooden pegs. He has a jack o'lantern for a head which is where he gets his name.
Jack was made by Kay Tip after she stole Mombie's Powder of Life.
Jack is not known for his intelligence which seems to depend on the quality and number of the seeds in his pumpkin-head at that time. However he does manages to come up with random bits of wisdom and common sense often.
Ellie Baum: Female; Uncertain age; Unknown; Shiz University Student
Ellie's commonly known history is that she was raised at "Glinda the Good's Home for Orphaned Ozians", but not much other than that. Ellie is a scholarship student at Shiz. She is extremely smart, and has a lot of pluck. She's tough on the outside, very vulnerable on the inside. She's edgy and can be a rebel at times. She tends to be a loner, and has a knack for sorcery. She can be a bit intimidating. Will Ellie be able to keep all her secrets under wraps now that she's at Shiz? Student in Glinda Tower, with a minor in Literature and History.
Claire Heart: Female; 22; Uplander; Head Girl - Shiz University
Pretty, Pink, and Popular. Claire hails from Gillikin country - her family made their fortune as glass artisans, and are responsible for planning and building most of the Emerald City. She is blonde, and beautiful, and in fact, it's hard not to like her since she has a kind, if ditzy heart underneath it all. But secretly she worries that she's not good enough to accomplish all her dreams, and tries to make up for it with her bubbly perfect personality. Student in Glinda Tower at Shiz.
Kye Heart: Male; 22; Emerald City; Head Boy - Shiz University
Claire's brother. Kye is a slacker. But a gorgeous one. His family hails from the Upper Uplands, and Emerald City, and he's just trying to slide by during his time at Shiz. But underneath it all, he's really quite smart. He'd just rather die than admit it. And he can always get you out of a jam. He's always had girls flocking around him, but this year maybe he'll meet a girl who's...well...different. Student in Emerald Tower at Shiz.
Polly Chrome: Female; 21; Uplander; Prefect/Student teacher - Shiz University
With her soft strawberry blonde hair, and dancing hazel eyes, Polly is a true breath of fresh air. Polly is the epitome of heartfelt sweetness, and sometimes that's about it. She's not a braniac, and she doesn't have great ambition, but she's a great shoulder to cry on. She might dress a tad eccentrically (namely in ALL the colors of the rainbow), but hey! It's a fashion statement, right? Her family is very powerful, hailing from Gillikin country and some of her carefreeness comes from just that - never having a care in the world. But all that might change this year... Student in Gale Tower at Shiz.
Patrick North: Male; 23; Uplander; Prefect - Shiz University
Half Munchkin, half Winki, and on the tall side, Patrick is brave, smart, and loyal. But sometimes his ambition can lead him down the wrong path, and if he isn't careful to really think about his actions, he could find himself in deep trouble FAST. His dream is to be a high ranking officer for the Emerald City. Student in the Emerald Tower at Shiz.
Kay Upland: Female: Slightly unsure, about 18; Uplander/Munchkinlander; Sudent - Shiz University. The daughter of Glinda and Boq, Kay is the spitting image of her mother. Like her she has an easy popularity - others just flock to her. Though unlike her mother she has a truly kind and sweet nature. Like her father, Kay is slightly nerdy, bookish, and terribly dreamy. In another person the things she says and does might be considered odd, but when Kay does them, they're instantly the latest fashion. Named after Kay - Princess Ozma's original name. Student Emerald Tower at Shiz
Ian Tibbit: Male, 16: Munchkinlander; Student - Emerald Tower, Shiz University. On the tall side for a Munchkin, Ian has a heart of gold, but is secretly shy and insecure because of his background, and Munchkinlander status (though with the visit of Dorothy Gale, Munchkinland has gained some standing in Oz.) Rather attractive, and more bold than he realizes, Ian is a true friend.
Taye Keats: Male, 19: Originally from Gillikin, hails from the Emerald City, Student - Emerald Tower, Shiz University. Tall, and good looking, Taye was once the residant playboy of Shiz, not the brightest crayon in the box, but good in a pinch.
Tin Man (Boq): Male; 29; Munchkin; Professor of Ozian History, Head of Gale Tower. After returning from the quest to destroy the Witch of the West, Boq was hailed as a hero. Now teaching at his alma mater Shiz, he tends to put a very Wizard-centric, anit-Elphaba spin on Ozian history. Oh, and did I mention that there's a question about Glinda the Good on every test? But secretly he's ashamed of himself, and the things he's done in his past. A little cold to students, he's still searching for his heart.
Lion: Male; Unknown; Dark Forest; Fine Arts Professor
Still insanely paranoid, Lion has a soft spot for the outcasts of Shiz. He tends to make judgements without all the facts, and blames others for his problems. But really he's a big softy who gets taken advantage of more than he'd like to admit.
Azarine Kates: Female; 29; Gilikinese; Professor in Dillimond Tower. Bohemian socialite turned aid of the Wicked Witch of the West. Azkadelia was by total chance part of the popular crowd at Shiz (during the time of Elphaba and Glinda) where she was in Dillamond House. Though at first (like her friends) she teased Elphaba because of her green skin, after Az realized what was happening to the Animals she changed her opinion of the young rebel. When Elphaba became "wicked" Az took over the role of caring for Elphie's sister Nessarose. Az was not fooled by the "melting" ploy and ended up finding Elphaba and joining in her cause. Brave, loyal, and slightly eccentric Az has never quite gotten over her socialite upbringing and still wants a warm bed to go home to at night, no matter what. She's terrified of being captured, but her passion always wins out in the end.
Tick-Tock: A round-bodied mechanical man that runs on clockwork springs which periodically need to be wound, like a wind-up toy or mechanical clock. He has separate windings for thought, action, and speech. Tik-Tok is unable to wind any of them up himself. His knees and elbows are described as resembling those in a knight's suit of armor. Tick-Tock is very high up in the Army of Oz. Although he is not alive and feels no emotions, he is utterly truthful and loyal. Tik-Tok was invented by Smith and Tinker at their workshop in Evna. He is the only model of his kind before the two disappeared. He was purchased by the king of Ev, Evoldo, who gave him the name Tik-Tok because of the sound he made when wound. The cruel king also whipped his mechanical servant, but that simply kept Tik-Tok's round copper body polished. He is now currently on staff at Shiz - Security and assistant to Mombie.
