Being murdered has not helped her to become kinder; if anything, her facial expression has grown harsher in death. Rarely smiles anymore.

Sexual Orientation Straight
Background History: Born with paralyzed legs, Nessa was the younger sister of Elphaba -- the Wicked Witch of the West -- who cared for her all through out her youth. Being the favorite daughter of the Governor of Munchkinland, Nessarose attended Shiz University as the special ward of Madame Morrible. On her first day at Shiz, Nessarose's father Frex gave her a pair of beautiful jeweled shoes. At Shiz she met Boq, who would eventually become the love of her life.
After her sister Elphaba left Shiz and became the Wicked Witch of the West, Nessarose became mortified with her association with Elphaba. Shortly after Nessa graduated from Shiz, her father died from embarrassment and shame, and it was up to Nessarose to take up the mantle of Governor of Munchkinland. She kept Boq at her side as much as possible as her personal servant, and it was to keep him with her that she began restricting Munchkin rights, including their freedom to leave Munchkinland. As a result of her somewhat oppressive reign, she began to be known as the Wicked Witch of the East. During a visit to Munchkinland, Elphaba enchanted Nessarose's jeweled shoes to allow her sister to walk, thus bestowing on them the tremendous power that eventually allowed Dorothy Gale to return to Kansas.
However, Nessarose's new ability to walk came as a mixed blessing: Boq took this as a sign that Nessarose no longer needed him, and chose that moment to reveal that he was really in love with Glinda Upland. Outraged and heartbroken, Nessarose tried in desperation to use the Grimmerie to force Boq to give his heart to her. A fluke in the spell caused Boq's heart to shrink away into nothingness; Elphaba was able to use her magic to turn him into a Tin Man, saving his life. Boq was not so pleased at his new form. Desperate not to let Boq know what she had done to him, Nessarose blamed Elphaba for his new condition. Shortly thereafter, Madame Morrible caused a tornado to drop a house on Nessarose, killing her.
Nessarose's spirit has been hanging in limbo for some time, but thoughts of bitterness, heartbreak, and revenge have stirred her back into consciousness. She has been influencing Ozma for a short amount of time, but her desire to take back what was hers in life has driven her to look for an ally to aid her return...
Personality Traits/Flaws: While she once had a good deal of youthful innocence, Nessarose eventually grew hardened after years of never being loved by Boq. She had always been very concerned about what other people thought of her; she always considered her sister Elphaba to be a complete embarassment. She once harbored true feelings of love for Boq, but her heartbreak has driven those feelings to a near-mad obsession to reclaim the man that rightfully belongs to her. She has a tendency to be selfish and cruel, whether in ignoring the mistreatment of her sister or in enslaving thousands of Munchkins all for her own purposes. For her, everything has always been about getting what she wants. While she was once able to justify her actions in her own eyes, she just doesn't care anymore. Death has a way of destroying any desire for the petty things in life like morals, replacing your heart with nothing but bitterness. Also, being powerless throughout most of her life has given her an unusual amount of lust for power and control now that she is free to do as she pleases.
Interests/Hobbies: Revenge, Boq, gaining as much power as possible.
Likes: Beauty, Boq, having power, getting her way, being able to walk, beautiful things like shoes.
Dislikes: Optimism, her enemies, disappointment, friendship, being powerless, being dead
Greatest Fear: Losing Boq again.
Strengths: Being unable to die again, some special abilities that she gained in death, the ability to possess certain members of the living.
Weaknesses: Being dead and without a real body with which to operate.
Best Memory: Being asked to the dance at the Ozdust Ballroom by Boq.
Worst Memory: Hearing Boq tell her that he has always loved Glinda, never her.
Goals: To kill those to blame for her death, and to reclaim what rightfully belongs to her: Boq, the Ruby Slippers, and Munchkinland.
Writing Sample:
She remembered very little of her last moments alive.
After all, everything had been a blur immediately after the accident. The accident that had destroyed her life -- the accident that had destroyed Boq. She had wandered aimlessly through Munchkinland, a hollow shell of her former self. Frenzied thoughts collided in her mind, each bitter, painful thought screaming as loud as the wind whipping around her. It was all Elphaba's fault... if she hadn't shown her that horrendible book, Boq would still be himself, he would still have a heart. Or was it Glinda's fault? How could Nessarose compete with such beauty, such grace? She had never been good enough. She had thought that being able to walk would make Boq love her, but obviously not. If Father hadn't made their mother chew Milkflower leaves during her own birth, she wouldn't be the way she was... but then, that was Elphaba's fault too, for being the way that she was...
Or was it her own fault? Her own fault for loving him too much?
The woman stumbled about, oblivious to the storm raging around her, her hair falling out of its bun and her skirts tearing on fenceposts and stalks of corn. She was blind to everything, to everyone -- suddenly there seemed to be a shadow above her...
Nessarose stared into the darkness pensively. The princess was asleep; the living needed rest, after all. She felt impatient. Why should she have to be held back by the limits of those weaker than her? That was irony. All of her life, she had been dependent on everyone else, powerless to help herself. Now that she was dead, she was powerless in a different way -- as a spirit, she was unable to interact with the world of the living on her own. Lately she had discovered an ability to influence the actions of the living, which was how she eventually came to possess the Princess Ozma. Were other ghosts like this? Did they have the same power that she had, or was there some reason that Nessarose hadn't passed on?
For the longest time, Nessarose didn't seem to be awake -- she remembered nothing but her final moments before her death. One day, however, she simply woke up, and found herself floating in a sort of dark void. She knew what had caused her to wake up: she had felt a nearby spirit. A living spirit. The spirit of Boq.
She had tried interacting with him, but was unable to. From then she had floated aimlessly through the darkness, occasionally coming into contact with different spirits... those both familiar and unfamiliar. Some she regarded with bitterness -- Glinda, Elphaba, even Fiyero -- while others she regarded with indifference. There was only one spirit whose presence she was genuinely glad to feel. Boq's. But even he seemed always to be around Glinda, the wench. Who did that hussy think she was?
It had been so long since she had felt anything akin to happiness. Even now, her heart carried the taint of death. Was she even able to love anymore? She had been all alone and loveless for so long. Was Boq really the one who had lost his heart? Or had it been her?
She didn't care. Heartless or not, dead or not, she would find a way to return. From her place within Ozma, she had learned plenty about the events in Oz over the past ten years. Many changes had happened, some good and some bad.
But there was plenty left to change. She would reclaim what was rightfully hers. Not even death could stop her now.
