Ian glared over at Taye while clenching his teeth. Ian had heard of Taye, a young looking prettyboy. If anything more boyish looking than manly, and his habit of being quite well with the ladies. Ian would not let Ellie be just another "lady" to him, he would do whatever it took. But what sparked off the anger was the tone Taye had spoken in his response to his question to GLINDA.
"Thank you GLINDA." Ian said sarcastically to Taye. "I don't need YOUR reassurance. I need Glinda's. Respond to your own name, boy." Ian said, furious.

Kay was bothered by this. Everyone in Oz knew that the Witch was wicked, and that she had gotten what was coming to her... right? Or was that right? Did one wicked deed deserve another? Or should you behave in a goodly manner regardless of the deeds of another? Kay wanted very badly to be good... she wanted to be just like Glinda the Good, or Dorothy. Did that mean being good even to people like the Wicked Witch? Or Mombi?
"I... I think you may be right," Kay said quietly. She thought for a moment. Glinda didn't seem too worried about Ellie... and Ellie herself seemed to have no problem talking to the Wicked Witch. What did all of this mean? She hoped with all of her heart that Ellie would be safe, wherever she was...

Ian looked over at Dorothy, attempting to get some answers instead of wasting his time with such a useless soul (Taye).
"Dorothy, I have not heard much of your motives at all. Infact, last I heard about you was that YOU had killed the witch. Which obviously is not the case. But tell me, if your intentions are not to kill the witch, how is it you were one of the only present when she 'died'". Ian asked in an accusing tone.

Polly stepped in between the two bickering boys. "Now stop it you two! We wont help Ellie any by fighting!" Polly raised her hands and in a kind of dance swirled them up and down. Suddenly lightning could be heard outside. "There we are!" Said Polly. "A little rain should hinder any tunneling the Nomes intend to do, and it should also slow down the Wicked Witch."
Then turning back to the group she said. "I'm sorry, but I have to say it. The Witch of the West caused unspeakable harm to this young girl and to all of Oz. Either someone is going to do something right now, or I will go to my father!"

Taye glared at Ian. Where did he get off talking to him like that? Deciding he wasn't worth the trouble, he ignored him and addressed Polly.
"What can we do? We have no idea where Elph... where the Witch is now. We don't even know if Ellie is in danger... both Glinda and Dorothy seem to trust the Witch well enough." He sighed. While he believed the stories he'd read depicting Elphaba as not being wicked, he wasn't entirely sure if he wanted to bet Ellie's life on them. "Still, it'd be good if we could check, just to be sure. Also, we need to find a way to get rid of the Nomes, not just slow them... what are they after? The throne?"

"Well, from what my father's told me their resentful of the Wizards mining pratices. THey claim that all the jewels in Oz - the Emeralds for the Emerald City, the gold for the yellow brick road, even the rubies for the ruby slippers all rightfully belong to him. So he's going to take them back. And the only way he can do that is to sieze the throne of Oz"

Dorothy looked at Taye. "I don't trust the Wicked Witch - I never said I did." Said Dorothy. "She was horrible to me, and to my friends. But that doesn't mean that she hasn't had wrongs done to her too." She said. "I would be wary of her, and what she intends to do to Ellie. I still don't know what she would have done to me if she'd had the chance. Does Ellie have something she'd want? Why would she take her?"

"Is that so?" Taye said, addressing Polly. It figures... even after the Wizard was long gone, his rule was still harming the citizens of Oz. Maybe he wasn't such a political genius after all...
At Dorothy's question, he shook his head. "I... I don't know," Taye said, thinking hard. "Ellie seemed almost to... to know her, but that doesn't seem possible. How would she know the Wicked Witch?" He looked at Glinda. "She lived in your orphanage, didn't she Miss Glinda? Did she ever meet the Witch on good terms that you knew of?"

"Who could ever meet the Witch on GOOD terms?" Polly exclaimed. "Ellie just seemed brave to me - not like she knew the Witch personally"

Ian looked at Polly, disgusted with himself. "My apologies Polly." He quickly glared back at Taye one last time.
"Polly, I don't think it wise to jump the gun here. " He said confidently. "It is quite clear that Elpahaba (Ian refused to address her formally as a Witch... would you want to be addressed as a witch?) has returned, and it was frightening.. but it could be just the way she popped in. I mean, she scared the pants out of all of us. Although the thought of Ellie in her hands frieghtens me, give Glinda a chance to explain. I honestly think Elphaba is the last thing we aught to worry about. And if people had put aside her frieghtening appearance int he first place, I think a whole mess could have been avoided years ago. She delivered a warning, a warning concerning someone that we SHOULD be worried about.
Glinda doesn't seem worried about Elphaba at all, and I trust her judgment for once." he said surprised at himself for having been so outspoken.
He was tired of everyone being so against Elphaba. Had they not realized that without her sudden appearance.. the Gnomes would be going on their normal plans right under our skin.. we would NOT be prepared for anything that is coming.. How selfish could people be? In an attempt to be good, she was still seen Wicked.
Ian sighed to himself.

Polly stood up, still and furious.
"The Wicked Witch of the West almost destroyed my home" she said. "I nearly lost my father in the Gale incident, no disrespect" she added to Dorothy. "Ellie is in danger. The Witch would have killed Dorothy for her shoes, and who knows what she'll do to Ellie. From what I hear she's a very powerful sorceress that girl"

Taye looked at Ian, surprised. So he had heard the rumors as well, had he? He even knew Elphaba's name, and seemed to truly believe that she wasn't wicked. Taye wasn't about to admit publicly that he was sympathetic of the Witch, he had too much at stake... but at least someone else knew that Ellie wasn't in danger. Probably.
"The munchk... Ian has a point," Taye admitted reluctantly. "The Witch did warn us of the Nomes, so she can't mean us too much harm, regardless of her actions in the past..."

Polly was truly furious now. "I can't believe you!" She exclaimed. "This is the number one enemy in all of Oz we're talking about! She tried to bring down the Wizard! She mutilated hundreds of poor monkeys. Even if she is good, why would she kidnap a poor innocent girl?"

Ian jumped back out of Polly's way, but then straightened up to confront her. "Shoes which were given to Dorothy by someone who did NOT have any claim over them." Ian turned to glare at Glinda then quickly turned back at Polly. "You ALMOST lost your father, well Elphaba DID lose her sister, and now her father, the ONLY remembrance she had, the only tie to her family, were those shoes. Which Dorothy would NOT take off." he couldnt stop shouting.
Its like something was overpowering him with this information... he was just as surprised as everyone else as he said it.
"As far as Ellie goes, I'm worried. Elphaba could have been a good person, but that does not mean she is dangerous. And this worry's me." he said. Ian thought to HIMSELF about the allegience he knew Ellie had to Elphaba. He recapped their old conversations by the tree. Perhaps Ellie knew something that we didn't, making her useful to Elphaba.

"I wasn't referring to Dorothy, I was referring to Ellie!" Polly shouted - still in a Princessy voice. "I know why she would capture Dorothy, even someone as brainless as me could figure that out!"
