Claire was blown away. She was at Shiz...twenty years ago. "Ellie...this is...we're in history. We're actually at the Ozdust. And that's Glinda, and Elphaba, and...Fiyero..." he was the most beautiful Ozian she'd ever seen. No wonder Glinda had fallen in love with him...and Elphaba. 'I'm married. I'm married. Oh! It never hurts to look, but he's Ellie's father. There's got to be something wrong with lusting after your best friend's father...' "...he's gorgeous..."

Ellie looked around. People seemed to be treating them as they might treat part of the scenery - they were present, but didn't seem to be able to affect anything. So no running up and giving her father a hug then. All right. And no one seemed to notice a straw man, so that was proof enough. Her father was so handsome, and fun loving. Claire would have been Glinda's best friend, but she kept wondering how she would have fit into this group. She kept looking at poor Nessa...and Boq

Claire's eyes locked on Nessa. They could have been twins...minus a few details, of course. And Boq, he was...human. She'd seen him a few times as the 'tin man,' and she's known he was a munchkin once; but it was the most information anyone had really given concerning his looks. He wasn't bad looking at all...very sweet, innocent. "It's so...strange..." Glinda was so young...she reminded her so much of herself. And Elphaba...poor Elphaba...seeming so very alone. But then...Glinda made an effort, took Elphie's hand, tried to mimic her dancing style...make it 'popular.' Claire shook her head. The scene seemed so similar. Maybe things never changed much throughout the years...she could almost swear if she looked just right it was Ellie, Ian, she, and Taye there.

Fiyero was utterly consumed by the scene. He wanted to be angry, sad, happy, and guilty all at the same time. He closed his eyes, pretending he wasn't there. It hurt him to see himself...as he was. To see Boq...as he was. To see how cruel he was to Elphaba. To see him happy...when he was in love with Glinda. Poor Glinda...he hadn't meant to hurt her so badly. They'd never really reconciled. Though sometimes he thought it made her feel better that he wasn't as he was. He supposed, in a way, it was a fitting punishment. Glinda's guilt for turning on them for her selfish gain had been her own, and he knew that. She'd never let herself live and love the way she once had again. At least, most days, he was still mostly himself on the inside. Glinda was only a shell...and watching them both now, it was so apparent.

Ellie was captivated. Somehow she belonged. She swirled to the music, joining in the dancing. She was the first one to join in doing "the Elphaba" how beautiful her mother was!

"This is so strange..." she looked around. It all looked so similar, but it was so different. She could see that Fiyero was terribly uncomfortable, but Ellie was certainly enjoying herself.

For Ellie's sake he tried to look like this was a little less agonizing. He could see Claire had recognized his discomfort. He smiled back at her.

Ellie stopped, coming face to face with her father - her past father. He was so handsome. She couldn't quite see how she was related to this beautiful Winki prince.

He could see the look on Ellie's face, seeing the old him. He wished she looked at him like that now. That anyone looked at him like that now. It just proved his point. He had once been beautiful.

The old Fiyero, and her father were standing next to each other. She looked from one to the other. Then she walked up to her father, feeling his face with her hand, and studying it with her eyes. She smiled. His eyes were the same. His expressions were identical. "There you are Fiyero."

Time had frozen. The scene was now fully still. He now stood beside Ellie...studying himself as well. "There I was..." he shook his head. "Now you can see for yourself just how much of you is me...my eyes are your eyes...my lips are your lips...and my skin is your skin..." he took her hand after she had looked Fiyero over and led her to Nessa. "But here is almost your spitting image..."

Claire stared in amazement at this world of now...people who seemed more like dolls, frozen in time. She, naturally, went over to Glinda, who looked much like her present self but very different somehow. She seemed...happier. Glinda had a dignity to her now which almost had a sadness to it, but this Glinda was...carefree? Perhaps that was what it was. She reminded her more of her a year or so ago. She had responsibilites now. Maybe that was the difference..

"No," Ellie said. "I meant YOU. I see him...Fiyero in you. Your eyes, expressions are the same. You never went away." She turned to look at Nessa. She was calmer, more passive than her. But she recognized how she felt isolated, looking around, feeling...odd. She did look like her in appearance - but she identified more with her mother.

He smiled at her attempt. "Well, thank you. I am still me...but you must admit, I was a lot better looking." he laughed it off. "I think if your mother were a natural skin color we might say you looked like her instead of Nessa...Nessa and your mother really had very similar structure, both very pretty in their own way. However, you did get Nessa's hair color moreso than your mom's..though not either exactly, but I think green skin might have looked a little funny with red hair." he laughed at that, too. "Maybe you were just a nice rolled up combo. We should quit trying to make you all of us and just accept you as yourself, because you're a pretty great kid all on your own. Really, better off than any of us were. I mean...look at us, Nessa's 17, your mother's 18, so are Glinda and Boq, and I'm 20. Look how much more you've done in your 17 years than any of us had..."

"But you look so happy." Ellie said. "I like being a rolled up combo of all of you. Maybe I can do what you couldn't. And it's not an attempt - you're just as handsome, now that I've seen the old you - I still see him in you."
