"Something only we would know. Only us, not even Gayelette... maybe, something secret, about Ellie..." Polly looked towards Ellie. She had many secrets - Polly knew she couldn't even fathom.

Angelique shook her head. "Nessa's too smart for that." she said, commenting on Polly's idea. "If we start asking specific questions, she'll know something's up. If she suspects nothing, she won't be as likely to search through our minds." she finished, shrugging her shoulders. "Something general, like the weather, with a special reply or something..." she said, tailing off as she tried to think of something.

"Better not make it anything about the weather" Polly said, trying to make a joke and lighten the mood. She chuckled a bit, but no one else seemed to be laughing.

"Polly's right about that. The weather is bound to upset Nessarose, what with it being the cause of her death."

"What about something to do with Dorothy? I doubt Nessa even knows who she is. She died before Dorothy actually, well, officially entered Oz"

"That could work. But what should we say? 'follow the yellow brick road?'"

"I like that! It's good! It has meaning to us, but it's not so out of the way that Nessa would suspect something. So, what should the person respond, you know, if I want to check up on Az and I say "are you going to follow the yellow brick road" what should she say back?"

"I agree. Perhaps it should be as simple as 'to the Emerald City.' I mean, that is where it leads..." Claire shrugged. She kept glancing at the door. Taye still hadn't arrived, and it was making her nervous.

"No, that may be TOO oubvious." Elphaba thought for a moment. "How about this. If I want to check up on, say, Claire, I'll say 'I'm going to follow the yellow brick road' then she replies 'watch out for the poppy field'"

"I like that. Afterall, anyone following the road would most likely be going to the Emerald City. The poppies are a bit less common in conversation, but still not rare.''

"And she doesn't know the story surrounding the poppy field....
The bigger question is, who would she WANT to possess?"

"Well she's currently in Gayelette...I'm assuming because she has a bit of power but would be easy to manipulate. So anyone young or weak is at stake...say Tristan of Kay...because like Gayelette, Ozma too was young and vunerable. Probably less likely that it would be Polly, Ellie, Taye, or I...but we would be the next step up. And if she could control you...it would give her unlimited powers...but I'm not sure she'd try. She knows how strong you are. And Glinda..." Claire glanced at her. She looked paler than usual, her hand grasping Boq's in a way she'd never seen. She looked terrified of losing everything, and it broke Claire's heart...because she understood.

"If she knows about Boq and I and Kay...i'd be a perfect target. She'd finally have everything she wanted. Technically if she were inside of me that would make her married to Boq with a daughter of his...what she always dreamed of..planned on. Not to mention if she could tap into my powers she'd have the magic she never could on her own and the political position she craves. I'm a perfect target. The only question is...is she brave enough to try?"

"Or powerful enough?" Azarine interjected. "If we still aren't sure of the restrictions Nessarose has to face when inhabiting a body, we either have to go around paranoid and questioning everything, or we have to try to learn more."

"I hate to say it Glinda, but I don't think she is. Nessa's a coward. She always has been, and she's always needed someone to take care of her. She's never been able to go out on her own..."
