Glinda pitifully knocked at Elphaba's door. She'd been up the whole night with Boq, her eyes were puffy, and she was exhausted. She didn't feel safe anywhere. She didn't feel like she could do anything for her family. She was at such a loss. She knew everyone much feel this way, but she did most of all. She needed comfort that her husband nor daughter could give her...for both were just as worried as she. She needed a friend. She needed her Elphie. So here she stood in pink velour sweatsuit and little white, ribbed tank underneath, hair in a ponytail, and flip-flops on her feet. She needed a shower and a brush and some makeup, but she really didn't care. The black sunglasses almost hid the black rings under her eyes and the puffiness, but nothing could wash away the fear all over her.

Elphaba opened the door and pulled Glinda into her arms. "I've missed you" she said - she had - she missed her best friend. It seemed now everyone else was starting to experience the kind of sadness, the loss that she had known since birth. She had been through it, she could help, but it was tiring, being the strong one all the time... she had never had anyone, until Glinda, who had really been there for her.

"I missed you too," she said, resting her head on Elphaba's shoulder. "Got a cup of tea and a pair of ears?" she asked, half cheerily. There was something in Glinda's demeanor that even on the brink of death she'd seem a little cheery. She smiled, pushing the glasses up on her head, wiping her eyes as she came inside. It was comforting just to know someone was there, someone she cared very deeply for, her best friend.

"Chistery has it all set up. I had a feeling you'd be by" she said with a smile, escorting Glinda in.
Ellie had already arrived some time ago - she was napping in one of the bedrooms. Ellie had been feeling a bit...down. Not just for the oubvious reasons, but, for all intents and purposes, she had been raised by Glinda - and now Kay had replaced her to some extent - at least in Ellie's eyes. She felt she had never been good enough to count as Glinda's child too, Glinda wanted her own flesh and blood - a double edged sword to Elphaba who at once wanted her daughter to feel completely loved, and have her all to herself at the same time. But that could wait until later. Right now it was Glinda who needed her...

"Is Ellie here?" she asked, smiling. Elphaba always had this glint of motherly pride in her eyes whenever Ellie was home. Ellie wasn't 'home' very often, though this had hardly been the place she'd been raised in. Glinda had loved Ellie just like her own, balancing that tightrope wire between the raising-mom and 'Auntie Glinda.' She could still remember holding the little girl in her arms, standing there with Elphaba and Fiyero, the three of them like their own secret little family. It was strange just how long ago that had been. IT seemed like yesterday, but it seemed like eons, at the same time.
She sat down in the chair, fixing herself tea. This was almost second nature to her. She knew the glasses, the chairs, how everything was arranged. They'd done it secretly for years, and less so now that it was all out in the open. Strange how the things that are no longer 'forbidden' seem to get thrown by the wayside.

"Yes, she's become a bit reclusive since everything happened actually" said Elphaba. "She's hiding here with the book - the one Ian's after. I have to agree that this is the safest place for them to be, but I can't help but feel that she's...well...feeling like giving up to some extent, with everything that's happened. She's still terrified of being wicked - and she blames herself for what happened to Ian, plus the spell I cast on her...."
Elphaba's eyes dimmed at the mention.
"All her friends have so much to deal with now too - I know what it's like. To have had to deal with so much hurt so young, and then to suddenly have to watch as your friends discover what it's like." She squeezed Glinda's hand.
"And, confidentially, I think she's been a little sad ever since Kay emerged. I think she feels a bit second rate - like she wasn't good enough to act as your real daughter. Like Kay's replaced her." Elphie saw the look in Glinda's eyes. "Oh, I know it isn't true! And believe me, Ellie does too...it's just, she's always felt like she doesn't belong, and so she's very sensitive. She's always been caught between two worlds. I wish I could have...been there more..."

"We all were. It was hard! We knew you couldn't be. You wanted her to be able to be as normal as possible. She had a good life, Elphie, don't beat yourself up." Glinda reassured. "I think Claire's never really forgiven me for Kay either. Unfortunately, it kinda knocked her for a loop, too." Glinda sighed. "But it wasn't wrong of me to want a child of my own...was it? I mean, I feel horrible that she missed having a real childhood. I wish I could have had a child, but with Ellie I almost did. At least I got to raise her, mostly. I'm sorry you didn't. I know that feeling a bit, now."

"Of course it wasn't wrong" said Elphie. "I think Ellie just doesn't quite understand. Deep down she does - but she was your child to some extent, and she sort of feels like, the adopted step daughter I guess, while the parents really love the biological child. I think she feels a little...forgotten..."

"I'll try to remedy that once all this is over with," she said sighing. "Right now I unfortunately have to focus my energies on making sure that my real daughter doesn't die...or be kidnapped, along with Ellie not being kidnapped, but I think you have that under control. Not to mention Claire or Boq or Taye or any of the rest of us..." Glinda took a long sip of tea, closing her eyes. "I didn't sleep a wink last night. Boq and I were up all night, worried about Kay, knowing we can't do a thing for her. We just have to let her be herself and go on with her life. She's not really afraid, and I so admire that in her. She got that from her father..not from me at all..."

"To be honest, and I know I can speak frankly to you. I was nervous about talking to openly in front of the others...it's Kay and Ellie I'm most worried about. I'll be fine - Nessa and I had our differences, but we're ok. She's not mad at me. To be honest, I think she's mad at you. She wants Boq - she wants what was stolen from her, and to that end Kay is a prime target. Ellie...well, Ellie's more complicated. Ellie holds her title, and to be honest, looks more than a little like her. While she probably hates Kay, and loves Ellie, I fear the results could be similar..."

"She and I never really got along in life, and in death...we're mortal enemies. So, I knew Kay would be the prime target, especially since she couldn't go straight after me. If she could just take a knife to someone, i feel quite certain it would be me. Especially if she knows everything, has put it all together. Kay has on a necklace I gave her that if the slightest thing goes wrong all she has to do is touch it, and it will automatically transport me to her. And Tristan has vowed not to leave her side for even a moment." She shook her head. "That boy is something else. He does love her."

"Yes he does. The only problem is, he's just as innocent as she is. When push comes to shove, I know his intentions will be in the right place, but he might not be that much help when it comes down to it..."

"That's why I gave her the necklace. She'll know if anything's wrong. She only had to touch it if she even expects anything."

"I hope it works... when was the last time you checked on her?"

"Before I left for here. I looked in she and Tristan's room. They were both sleeping like babies." Glinda nodded to herself. That had been, what, an hour before? She was fine. Of course she was fine. Boq was there. He'd check on here before his classes started. She was sure of it.
