Kay's ruby bubble burst with a loud pop as she landed on the floor of the Nome castle - or she supposed it was the Warlock's castle now. She had heard stories about the defeat of the Nome King, and about Ian. She was shaking with fear.

Skylar appeared next to her, still grasping Gayelette's hand without realizing it. In contrast to Kay, the two of them landed lightly on the stone floor. Skylar looked around them in surprise and awe; where in Oz were they? Were they even in Oz? He supposed they could be somewhere outside of it, but he had never heard of anything like this in his travels. On the contrary, he had heard plenty of legends of a mysterious kingdom far below Oz, consisting of nothing but winding, dark stone tunnels, the home of the equally legendary Nome King.
A figure who Oz now knew to be dead, vanquished miraculously by Dorothy during her last visit to Oz. Rumor had quickly spread of her journey, as news of Dorothy often did, expanding and exaggerating her role in the entire situation. Skylar rolled his eyes. Oz was always the same, wasn't it? Everyone made such a huge deal over Dorothy Gale, when she hadn't even managed to kill the Wicked Witch of the West. A shame if it was true that Elphaba was really evil all along...
Skylar glanced at Gayelette. "So... where's our gracious host?" Truth be told, he was a little nervous about how the infamous warlock would receive him. What if this was all wrong and Ian really was the bad guy? Skylar shook his head, thoughts of other worlds flooding back into his mind. It didn't matter who was and wasn't bad. Those were all just perceptions... what mattered now was helping Ian find the book so that the warlock could in turn help him out.

"I..uh...I don't know exactly. We're actually in the receiving room so either he or Trism should be along shortly through here..." She saw an undead begin to roam toward them. "Excuse me!" she called to it. "Could you fetch one of the master's please?" it looked at her for a moment. "Ian or Trism. The masters here. Could you fetch them? Go get them and bring them here? ...please?" It half nodded and began to roam away, she hoped to fetch one of them. She almost hoped it got Trism so he could ease Ian into this. After all, she hadn't exactly asked permission.

Kay saw the undead creature and let out a scream that would strike fear into the heart of Mombie...

After they had been waiting for a couple of minutes, Trism stepped into the room, summoned by the undead creature's vague gestures. He had no idea what was going on, simply the general direction the corpse had pointed him in. When he first came into the scene he froze, surprised at the large amount of people now standing in the receiving room, but soon regained his composure. He looked at Gayelette and couldn't help chuckling.
"Where did you go? I had to throw out your pancakes."
His eyes met those of the dark-skinned boy -- a Quadling, perhaps -- and then he looked down at the blonde girl shaking on the floor. His eyes widened as he recognized her as Kay Upland, Glinda's daughter, seen by both of them through Ian's scrying. It paid to keep track of your enemies.
"You weren't kidding when you said you were going to make her pay, huh?" Trism muttered quietly, glancing back at Gayelette. He appreciated her thoughts, but wasn't sure if kidnapping the daughter of one of the most powerful people in Oz was the way to stay low-profile. Still, it was true that Glinda had wronged Ian in the past. Perhaps they could find a way to work Kay into their plans.
"And... who is this?" he asked, eying the boy uncertainly. Kay had obviously been kidnapped, but the boy looking at him defiantly seemed to be here of his own accord. Was it even alright for him to be here? Their lair was top-secret. Trism hoped that they were right to trust Gayelette... he turned his attention to her as he waited for an answer.

Kay's sobs filled the room. If they were all supposed to be so "good" how come they couldn't care at all how much pain she was in?

"This is Skylar. He helped me. He wanted to meet Ian, so I brought him back. I hope that's alright. He doesn't know the way. I used magic to get us here straight from Shiz..." she assured him, smiling ever so slightly. "And Kay was in a bubble that burst when we got here...I thinks she may be hurt..." she added, looking down at her.
"Are you alright? I mean...I know you're scared and you hate me, but are you alright?" she asked quietly.

Kay could barely get any words out. She hadn't even had a chance to think about if she was physically hurt. She managed to get out "You don't know anything. You have no idea what you're doing..." before gasping in pain. The whole left side of her body, where she had hit the stone floor was covered in scrapes and bruises.

Trism looked down at the girl with a touch of sympathy. Poor thing obviously didn't know what she was doing here. Neither of course, did Trism... that was Gayelette's business, he supposed. Regardless, prisoner or not, she was hurt, and needed to be taken care of. Trism had gotten plenty of skill in first aid in the army, and even more after working with the dragons -- if you didn't know how to bandage yourself when working with the deadly creatures, you would soon be without an arm.
Fortunately for him he still had his bag from when he was tending to the dragons earlier in the "morning", and within the bag was a simple first aid kit. He knelt down beside the young girl.
"I won't hurt you," he said kindly as Kay flinched. He pulled out a bottle, removed the cork, then poured a small amount on a piece of cloth. "This might sting a little," he warned her as he began dabbing it on her wounds, "but it should heal minor scrapes and bruises almost instantly." That should do it...

Kay cried out when the ointment touched her skin. But the man was right - it did heal her instantly. She looked around, tears on her cheeks shaking. She held her bubble necklace tight in her hands, but still her mother didn't come...

Skylar watched Trism heal Kay, a small smile on his face. He didn't know what Trism's connection was with Ian, but judging from this act of kindness, these weren't bad people. Did that confirm Gayelette's story? He smiled as the few lingering doubts in his mind washed away. Now he could get down to business.
"Thank you for having me here, Trism," Skylar said in as polite a tone as possible, bowing his head slightly. "The reason I wanted to come with Gayelette is because... I think I have information that Ian might find valuable. In return, I was hoping that he could help me." He stared at Trism expectantly, but also with slight reservation. What if Ian didn't even want to see him? Worse, what if the warlock listened to his story, then found the book and refused to grant Skylar's request? He'd never get it back then. Still, he had to at least try.

Trism looked Skylar over, deep in thought. Was this kid for real? What could he possibly have to offer Ian? He thought over their plans, trying to think of something that his lover might have an interest in...
Could it be... the book? But how did anyone know about that? It seemed suspect... but they could at least allow this kid to speak his mind. Trism nodded.
"Very well. I'll go find him. You three just stay here... don't get into trouble." He smiled amiably at them, then turned and strode down the corridor, leaving the three students alone.

Kay looked up at Skylar and Gaylette with fear. The...the book had been found? This was not good...

Gayelette looked back at both of them. "Kay, they lied to you. They've been lying to you. Those memories you have...they're not real. They're fake. They're magic. Elphaba screwed up your father's life, and she's dangerous...and your mother is under her power right now. It's not safe for you there. That's why I brought you here. I had to get you away from her. Ian can help you. Ian can make you real...who you really are! You don't have to be someone's experiment or make up gift anymore. You can be you!" Gayelette honestly believed herself. Maybe it was Nessa's magic inside of her, or maybe it was the strength and conviction in her lies. Either way, she began to get reality and fantasy crossed, and in her mind, the wicked intentions of paying everyone back began to twist to a heroic tune of saving Kay from following a fate like her own.

Skylar noticed an odd look flash across Gayelette's eyes. For a moment, it looked almost as if she was a different person... but then it passed. Skylar stared at her for a moment, then dismissed the thought. He was too tired... and there was clearly so much going on today that it was messing with his mind.
"So, Gayelette..." Skylar began. He didn't mean to change the topic, but the thought was bothering him. "What exactly is this Ian person like?" He had no doubt of Gayelette's conviction that Ian was a good person, but still... he had never met someone as powerful as a Warlock before.
