Skylar stared down at Kay in shock. What had just happened? She looked different in every way, as if she were a different person. Was she a different person? He knelt down next to her.
"Kay, are you... alright?" He looked up at Gayelette, his face carrying an expression of wonder and surprise more than accusation. "What in Oz did you just do? She looks so different..."

Kay turned her head, her eyes piercing Skylar and Gaylette, she still couldn't speak. She was so weak....

Gayelette was shaking. "I don't know...I don't know..." she held her hands out in front of her, crying, trembling. "What did I do? Kay! Kay!" she grabbed her, feeling weak. "I'm sorry! I don't know...I...!" she grabbed her, holding her close. "I'm so sorry," she mumbled again and again.

Kay looked into Gaylette's eyes - strong and fierce where she had once been gentle and innocent.
Kay remembered things that had happened since she was created - Tristan for instance, but she had no memory of Glinda ever having been her mother. Even though the spell had not worked perfectly - when she had first been created she had some memories as if she had been born sixteen years earlier, no new memories had replaced them. It was as if a hole had been ripped in her mind. But one thing was sure. Glinda was gone. Only thoughts of Nessarose filled her mind...
"Where's mother?" she asked.

"Mother?" Skylar said, looking uneasily at Gayelette. "Er, I think Glinda is still at Shiz, I think." The spell must have done something to addle her memory slightly, making her forget why they were here. He glanced at Gayelette, now sobbing while holding Kay. He frowned.
"What do you mean you don't know? You're the one who cast the spell... should you know why or what it did?" Something was fishy about this entire situation... it made Skylar feel uneasy deep in his core. The terror in Gayelette's eyes was apparent, and that wasn't the usual reaction from someone who had voluntarily chosen to cast a spell. There had been preparation and everything, so it wasn't as if it had been a split-second accidental burst of magic. What in Oz was going on?

"What are you talking about? Where's mother?" She looked up at their blank faces. "Where's Nessarose? Nessarose Thropp? MOTHER!"

((I changed this and deleted this post last night. I put it on Gayelette...but now it's back to the way it was on Claire...however, if i delete and change it it will be out of order, so just ignore this is Claire and make it Gayelette))
Gayelette:
"Nessa...rose...thropp?" Gayelette asked, still shaking. "Your mother is Glinda...Glinda Upland...wife of Boq....good witch of the North, sometimes debatable but still her title..." Gayelette couldn't understand what was going on.

Kay was still weak, and shaking. But she said, in a rather swotty tone "I don't know who you are, or what you're talking about. My mother is Nessarose THROPP! And I want to see her NOW! I am the daughter of the Governor of Munchkinland, heir to the Thropp title. AND I WANT MY MOTHER NOW!"

"Everything is alright, Kay... Mother is here," Nessarose crooned through Gayelette... but in Nessa's own voice. It would be audible to both Skylar and Gayelette, but with the spell put on Kay it would be difficult to avoid the truth getting out eventually. Besides, even with knowing that she was possessed, what was Gayelette supposed to do about it? She could do nothing, not until Nessarose decided that she was through with her.
"I've got a bit of unfinished business, Kay, and right now I need to use this girl you're talking to... but know that I'm here and safe. Your father and I are so proud of you..."
Simply saying it made Nessa feel breathless with excitement. Your father and I... she and Boq... bound forever by their own flesh and blood.
In a manner of speaking, at least.

"M...Mother?" Kay said softly, regressing into a little girl - the old Kay peeping through. "What's going on? I..I need you here."

"I'm here," Nessarose said quietly, feeling a pang of sadness and pity for the little girl. It was rare that she ever felt anything other than bitterness or spite these days. "Mother can't come to see you right now, but a nice man is going to help fix me. You'd like that, wouldn't you? Will you help the nice man bring me back?"

"Yes! Oh yes mother! Please come back soon! I...I can't remember anything. What's going on?" She whispered.

Azarine was on her way out of her meeting with Ian when she stumbled on to the "gathering" in the hall. She saw her students and a man who she didn't know all standing around another of her students, Miss Kay Upland...but she didn't look like her normal self. "Kay?" she quietly asked before raising her voice and turning to Skylar. He was a good student, so she assumed he would listen to a professor. "What has happened here?"

"Er... Professor Kates?" Skylar said in surprise, looking from the teacher to the doorway. What on earth was she doing in the middle of the Nome Kingdom? Was she perhaps working with Ian as well? He relaxed slightly; if that was the case, then she could be trusted.
"Well... Gayelette was..." he began, looking at the stunned girl nervously. "Uh... well, it seems that she's being possessed by... Nessarose Thropp. At least, she said she was Nessarose." Of course he knew who Nessarose was. The fact that he was a history major was irrelevant; everyone in Oz had heard of the Wicked Witch of the East. Had her ghost somehow stuck around, possessing random people? Skylar continued to stare at Gayelette, but Nessarose seemed to have become dormant once more. He cleared his throat and continued. "She did some kind of spell, and... Kay changed. She seems to think that Nessarose is her mother instead of Glinda, and Nessarose was saying the same thing."
As he explained the situation to his professor, a new thought suddenly occurred to him: was it possible that that was what the spell had done, changed who Kay's biological mother was? Was that even possible? All of the evidence certainly supported it. Skylar shook his head in ghastly wonder. Magic could do amazing -- yet horrible -- things. As Kay Upland transformed into Kay Thropp, the ghost of Nessarose may have gained a daughter... but Glinda had lost one.
